The United States' gun culture is back in the spotlight and facing more criticism, after a series of highly publicized incidents involving unarmed Americans getting shot for making harmless mistakes.

This is in addition to the 165 mass shootings (defined as at least four people shot, excluding any shooter) in the U.S. so far in 2023, according to the Gun Violence archive.
