Set in 1944, a retired Finnish soldier, Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila), now a gold miner strikes it rich when he finds a large gold deposit buried deep in the ground. Taking up the long 563 mile journey to the nearest bank, Korpi runs into a Nazi patrol that stops him and finds that he is carry a sizeable amount of goal...so naturally, they want it for themselves. They soon find out they have their hands full and Korpi quickly dispatches the entire group with relative ease. Alerted by the sound of gunfire, a larger, more heavily armed platoon of Nazi soldiers takes up the same chase and after successfully taking Korpi's gold, that he embodies the spirit of SISU, which is a Finnish term that means to never give up.
