That fight contested on June 5th 1889, featured Jim Corbett vs Joe Choynski. These two built up a blood rivalry that could only be satisfied in a grisly 27 round boxing match. The story though goes back years before as both fighters rose to prominence in San Francisco.

The aftermath saw Corbett defeat John L Sullivan for the World's Heaveyweight title. Choynski won the inaugural Light Heavyweight title two times. Each man left a lasting mark on the history of Boxing and Benicia.
