Truth on Zuckerbucks
There is a little bit of a misconception floating around about Zuckerbucks. A candidate for First Vice Chair is claiming, “We got rid of Zuckerbucks”, “I got rid of Zuckerbucks.” Here is some information and video that will clear up the fallacy of the Zuckerbucks claim that is circulating.
In 2020, Zuckerberg donated an estimated $43 million to Georgia counties. It is widely known that the money went directly to the county's board of elections of “select” counties. In 2020, these election grants, known as Zuckerbucks, made three things legal in Georgia: Election Grants aka Zuckerbucks, Mobile Voting Units, and Drop Boxes.
Zuckerbucks funded the mobile voting units and the drop boxes. In 2020 by emergency order, Brad Raffensperger allowed election grants and drop boxes. It was not law. Also in the same election cycle, Fulton County introduced mobile voting units. It was not law. Once something is written into law, it is only a matter of time that the use of these three will expand and multiply.
While there were some good things in SB202, it codified into Georgia state law election grants, mobile voting units and drop boxes. All three were used to manipulate and steal an election in 2020. With the passage of SB202, the bill known as “Easier to Vote, Harder to Cheat,” we had an opportunity to ban all three to secure our elections but instead we made them law.
In 2022, after the passage of SB202, election grants were able to go directly to counties. DeKalb county took advantage of this loophole. Now, under the new legislation from 2023, “election grants” could only be contributed to the state government, aka Brad Raffensperger, before distributing the funding to the counties. Therefore, Zuckerbucks was not banned.
Is “We banned Zuckerbucks!” supposed to make us feel safe and secure in 2024? I think not.
I have been on the forefront of election integrity. I have paid attention and will continue to pay attention. Recently, VoterGA.org sent a letter thanking me for helping to lead the election integrity movement in Georgia for 17 years. Garland Favorito is a frequent guest of my show on the Voice of Rural America. He was on recently to talk about the Georgia legislative session, what passed, what didn’t, and are we ready for 2024.
As a candidate for Georgia GOP First Vice Chair, I humbly ask for your vote at the state convention on June 10. I won’t sensationalize things. I watched how they put things in place to steal an election in 2020. And I watched what they did in 2022. I vow to keep my eyes open and to come to you, the delegates, to let you know what is happening behind the scenes and if we can trust what is happening in preparing for the 2024 election.
Sincerely
Brian K. Pritchard
Candidate for First Vice Chair of Georgia GOP
