200 US military personnel in Taiwan to support training: sources

Some 200 U.S. military personnel are stationed across Taiwan to help with training. According to sources with knowledge of the matter, the trainers are from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and 80% of them are from the army. They’re here to provide practical consultations for Taiwan’s one-year conscription program, which will feature U.S.-style combat drills. The American Institute in Taiwan won’t comment on specifics. But it emphasizes that U.S. support for Taiwan’s defense will be commensurate with the evolving threat.
