Doomsday

The Latter Rain movement of the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s used hundreds of doomsday scenarios to hold their audience captive by fear. From prophecies by Latter Rain “prophets” to advanced “doomsday clock” countdowns by Latter Rain teachers to casual statements by ministers generating fear for altar calls, the Latter Rain movement was literally fueled by doomsday scenarios.

Many doomsday scenarios included specific timelines for the End of the World. When that timeline passed, a new timeline was introduced. As far back as history records the movement, Latter Rain leaders jumped from one doomsday prediction to another.

William Branham, the leader of the Post WWII Healing Revivals and catalyst for the Latter Rain Revival, went so far as telling converts that they only had a month to live on earth. They were faced with a decision: either convert to the movement or die within one month.
