The Good & Bad: Roadmaster Exact Center Steering Stabilizer (Jeep Wrangler)

In this episode of Wandering Wagners we bought an Exact Center Steering Stabilizer for our @Jeep Wrangler that is made by @RoadmasterTowing and purchased from @etrailer with hopes that would be helpful with the sometimes hard to control JL steering, and it promises to let you backup your toad vehicle while still hooked up to your motorhome and it would keep the tires straight, so the tow bar wouldn't bind and break, allowing you to backup without having to unhook and re-hook the Jeep.
We had high hopes from the get go which were soon dashed. The instructions were not great and even said no drilling required. However, one of the first steps is to DRILL a 7/16" hole.
We had to remove the passenger tire to get a clear shot of where the hole needed to be as well.
Once it was installed we took it out and it pulled to the left pretty hard. Following the directions, for adjustments, we found that it was backwards and every adjustment made, only made it worse until we did the opposite of what it says to do.
Many adjustments later, we called it good enough, and Lynn drove it for a week to see what she thought.
We also show how we hook up our Jeep behind our @NeXusRV Wraith 34W Super C motorhome, because we have been asked to show how we do this in a little more detail.
We have a @RoadmasterTowing base plate and tow bar set up which has been great without issues for almost 3 years now. For the braking system we have a @blueoxproducts7937 Patriot II system so we can take it between our different vehicles.
The steering stabilizer worked well when backing up the RV as advertised, but regular daily driving with it on made it difficult to steer. It was a heavier wheel and more difficult to turn and make minor corrections. Thought it did handle better in a strong cross wind and when passing/changing lanes it made the Jeep more stable feeling. Other than that, it was more difficult to both Mike and Lynn.
We remove it after a week to see if we missed it, and the answer was no enough to put it back on.
While it works good for backing up, especially if you RV alone, the rest of the driving was annoyingly hard to control. Especially for the high price tag!
