McDonalds is increasing burger quality

Softer buns, gooier cheese, onions grilled into the patties, more Big Mac sauce: these are all quality improvement McDonalds is implementing. Anyone in the food industry can probably tell you that it is the small things that make a difference like how you sear the meat, the temperature of the cheese to get it to melt, the amount of sauce.
McDonald’s made the quality improvement overseaes before bringing them to domestic markets in the US. These changes should be fully rolled out across the country by early 2024.
The issue is, McDonalds is known for unhealthy food and the world is getting more health conscious. In addition, McDonalds is known for low quality, cheap food. Have you bought a meal at McDonald’s lately? It is like $15 for a meal. Now, why would you pay $15 at McDonalds when you can go to a local burger place for the same price or just a little bit more money? Have you ever gotten trapped in the drive through in the evenings for like 30 minutes? The gross margin for McDonalds is over 50%, so they could theoretically eat the cost of quality upgrades, but I’m sure you, the customer, will be paying it.
