Cherry Blossoms and Karakusa, Acrylic & Gold Leaf Painting | Time Lapse Process

I've always admired the transient beauty of Sakura (cherry blossoms) and it is often the subject of my work. Not only does it symbolize the arrival of spring but also renewal, rejuvenation and regrowth. It's overwhelming beauty is pure, elegant and spectacular and yet this beauty is short lived which is a constant reminder of the ephemeral nature of life and of our mortality.

I used gold leaf to give texture to the background. I used KARAKUSA (Japanese pattern) as background. This pattern represents a plant endlessly growing and spreading in many different directions. It can be associated with other plants or decorated with different flowers. It is a symbol of prosperity and longevity and can be found on
clothing and on furoshiki (traditional Japanese square cloth used to wrap and carry objects).
