F1's first farewell
Ferrari's decline in competitiveness with the advent of the turbo-hybrid era in 2014 and, above all, the unsuccessful return to McLaren after his last experience in 2007, led Fernando Alonso to temporarily retire from Formula 1 at the end of 2018. the Spaniard's career was considered by many to be the lowest point of the two-time world champion's experience in the main class, but, erroneously, also the most negative of his entire experience as a driver.

In fact, it was precisely at this stage of life on the tracks that Alonso was able to demonstrate all his qualities by also establishing himself in other high-level categories such as the WEC. In addition to being crowned champion in the 2018-2019 season with Toyota, the Asturian also won two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, again with the Japanese team, but failing to fulfill the dream of the Triple Crown. To gain this coveted statistical recognition, a driver must indeed have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Monaco GP or the F1 world championship and the Indianapolis 500.
