Celtic went to Rugby Park knowing they had to win to restore the 12 point lead in the SPFL after Rangers won against St Mirren, on the previous day. Celtic came out the traps with blistering pace, taking the lead through Kyogo Furahashi on 7 Minutes, before Daizen Maeda scored a second on the 12th minute to extend Celtic's lead. Matt O'Riley stepped up to the plate with 2 goals - making it a 4-0 lead by the 30th minute of the match.

Just before half-time, Liam Donnelly gave the Kilmarnock fans a consolation goal. The second half of the match was not a classic affair - with both sides having conceded that the match was over.

Ange Postecoglu's men did enough in the first half's outstanding display to send the travelling Celtic support home happy and with few games left - the title of Scottish Champions is pending on a matter of when, rather than if.
