A War Funded by the CIA with Secret Money
https://thememoryhole.substack.com/p/be-careful-or-your-body-may-disappear
The film takes a look at Cambodia ten years after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime, which was responsible for the deaths of an estimated 1.7 million people during its rule from 1975 to 1979.
The documentary explores the progress that Cambodia had made since the fall of the Khmer Rouge, including the establishment of a new government, improvements in healthcare and education, and efforts to rebuild the country's infrastructure. However, it also examines the challenges that Cambodia continued to face, such as political instability, poverty, and ongoing conflict with the remaining Khmer Rouge forces.
The film features interviews with Cambodian officials, aid workers, and ordinary citizens, as well as archival footage and images of the country's landscapes and cultural heritage. It offers a sobering but ultimately hopeful perspective on a country struggling to emerge from a dark period in its history.
