Today’s recipe for the basic staple of many households...spaghetti and meatballs marinara. But with a secret ingredient for the meatballs.

Here are the ingredients to make about 24 meatballs:

1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground beef (preferably chuck)
2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper
3/4 of a cup of plain breadcrumbs
1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
4 medium-sized eggs
½ cup of ice-cold water
½ whole milk ricotta cheese
½fresh basil chopped
½ parsley chopped
½ cup of all-purpose flour

And for the ingredients for the marinara sauce:

extra virgin olive oil
7 cloves fresh garlic chopped
28 ounces of tomatoes (either San Marzanos pureed or a simple tomato sauce)
3 ounces of tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
kosher salt and coarse black pepper to taste
1 pound of spaghetti (or your favorite long pasta)
