I created a compost time machine for my permaculture food forest

Today we added another batch of charcoal into the compost pile (3 total in there now, 165 gallons). We combined all the manure and made a massive pile. We discuss reasons why we want a big pile, compost mechanics and science. We talk about the big picture - how much solar energy is going into the things that go into the pile? Mindblowing amounts of energy went into this pile, and it's all from that gorgeous yellow/orange ball in the sky. The amount of chemical energy in this pile is astounding.

And that's how we come to extreme fertility. Everything in life is about energy flow in vs out. We capture more energy coming in, and we can expect more energy going out (in the way of fertile plants). We focus on growing our soil, not our plants, because our plants will grow if we have good soil.

A compost pile like this can be fine-tuned to act as an ecological succesion time-machine, quickly speeding your soils towards the ideal environment that your plants evolved to out-compete others in.
