For a lot of beginners, this is probably one of the most off-putting stumbling blocks when it comes to martial arts. It is brutal by nature, which is why the study of vital points is crucial when it comes to defending oneself, hence the term "self-defense." This video also covers encouraging beginners and intermediates to train on the intent of hitting the vital points of the body. Vital Points are basically areas where if hit -- sometimes just once -- it either incapacitates the assailant, or it stops the threat/fight completely.
