Polish farmers tried to blockade the railway at one of the crossings where grain from Ukraine enters the country. However, they were met by police officers guarding the area and allowing a freight train to pass through.

Demonstrators claim the influx of cheap grain has lowered prices and hurt sales for local farmers. Agriculture Minister Henryk Kowalczyk quit last week amid protests, and his successor Robert Telus announced that imports would temporarily be halted, although not for grain intended for other countries.
