Unboxing my Genalex Gold Lion EL84 power tubes

These Genalex Gold Lion EL84 power amp vacuum tubes arrived a day early and they're going in my Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister Deluxe 40 guitar amplifier. I've been reading articles, reviews, and watching videos online about Genalex Gold Lion tubes and they're among the most expensive and highest quality of new current production tubes.

They're supposed to be designed for audio purists like audio snobs who insist to listen to their music on vinyl records with a turntable through a vacuum tube amplifier. That's not a bad thing but I just wanted to articulate who these Genalex Gold Lion vacuum tubes were designed for. But I'm going to use them in my guitar amplifier which isn't for such a critical situation.

They were just under $180 before tax for a matched quad as a set of EL84 power tubes. It's best to get tubes in matched sets because they're tested for quality control to be the most electrically similar in their performance. I got nearly three years out of my Shuguang EL84 power tubes that came from the factory with my Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister Deluxe 40 guitar amplifier when I bought it new from Sweetwater in July of 2020.
