#16 Sacred Heart vs. #16 Southern 2023 First Four NCAA Tournament Game Highlights
With a 57-47 triumph over Southern in the First Four, Sacred Heart secured their first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament.
“I am so proud of our team’s effort. It was a true battle tonight. I am so proud of how our team rallied to make history,” said Pioneers coach Jessica Mannetti, the women on the thumbnail of this video.
Ny'Ceara Pryor's outstanding performance, who was both The NEC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, helped the Jaguars (18-15) secure a five-game winning streak, having won nine out of their last ten matches. With an impressive average of 18.2 points per game, Pryor led the Northeast Conference in scoring this season and made conference history by becoming the first player to receive the player of the year, defensive player of the year, and rookie of the year awards in the same season. Pryor, a 5-foot-3 guard, was selected to the all-NEC first team and the conference's all-rookie team, and also topped the nation in both steals per game (3.9) and steals overall (120).
“We just made history, and we are not done with this story,” - Pryor 2023
