Morel mushrooms are some of the most sought after mushrooms in the world, and on this episode we are going to look at some beautiful morel mushrooms and their habitat.
This is one of many many species of Morel Mushrooms, this one is known as Morchella norvegiensis. It seems to be mycorrhizal with some of the conifer trees here in the Pacific Northwest. But don't be discouraged if you live in a different area, everywhere in the Northern hemisphere its spring and Morels are undoubtedly spring mushrooms. Something about the ground warming up stimulates the mushrooms to fruit, and these decided that around the 12th of April would be a great time to pop up.
They are quite easy to identify with their pits and ridges, the hollow inside, the color and stature. Pretty hard to mistake these for a different mushroom. Please, don't use this as a definitive field guide, do your own research. This is mainly meant for entertainment and habitat education.
