Martin Truex Jr. is one of the most even-keeled drivers in the Cup Series garage. However, this season has been filled with repeated disappointment and tested the patience of the 2017 champion. One issue after another has set the No. 19 team back, which has ended chances at wins, and more significantly, kept the team from making the playoffs and making a run at a second title.

This past weekend, the 42-year-old had a good run and finished fifth at Kansas. You couldn't tell after the race because the veteran driver was dejected and didn't try to hide it. In an intense emotional conversation with SiriusXM NASCAR's Claire B. Lang, Truex talked about how another one got away and candidly admitted to the violent way he wants to get over his frustrating season.
