Hundreds of truck drivers have been left stranded without food and shelter near the Bolivian town of Desaguadero, unable to cross the border into neighbouring Peru, as seen in footage captured on Tuesday.

More than 370 drivers and their trucks are currently waiting behind blockades at the border crossing, according to local media.

They have been unable to enter Peru for more than 70 days amid a political crisis in the country, sparked by the ousting of former President Pedro Castillo.

According to local reports, the drivers have been left without basic needs such as food and lodging, they are unable to abandon their vehicles and return home.

The Bolivian government reportedly sent at least 600 boxes of aid to the drivers last Friday. The supplies are said to include rice, water, powdered milk and medical supplies, among other items.
