UK Plans to Turn Ukraine into a Scorched Earth with Depleted Uranium Ammunition

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused the UK of trying to turn Ukraine's territory into a "scorched earth" by supplying Kiev with ammunition containing depleted uranium. The comments were made after the British Ministry of Defence claimed that the health and environmental impact of such ammunition would be "probably low." Depleted uranium is commonly used in NATO and has been linked to cancer in soldiers handling the ammunition. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia will respond accordingly to "weapons with a nuclear component" being used by the collective West. The Russian Embassy in the UK also raised concerns over the use of such ammunition in Ukraine, which could escalate the conflict and impact the health of the local population.
