Russian Defence Ministry shows Niobium radar in action within special military operation

The station scans the sky within a radius of 50 km. It simultaneously monitors hundreds of objects, automatically detecting their type. It also has an identification friend-or-foe system. Information about potential threats reaches the command post. There, a decision is made as to which air defence unit will track and then engage the target.

The Niobium radar is designed to detect and track aerodynamic and ballistic targets. It also has a radio jamming source direction finding function. The Niobium system is capable of detecting not only Ukrainians aircraft and helicopters, but also drones made of composite materials that are difficult to detect.
