DAY19: THE GOOD SHEPHERD: (John 10:1-18) - “Lead like Christ- We are Reserved for

Welcome back. Great is His faithfulness.

"Jesus is the Good Shepherd, He gives His life for the Sheep"

Jesus is contrasting His leadership to that of the leadership of the Jewish religious leaders of His time. Jesus let's us know that the Pharisees would extremely prideful, and their pride made them deceitful among God's people leasing them astray and they even lacked compassion for their own people their flock that was entrusted to them by God, they were not good pastors - (the word "pastor" comes from the Latin word "shepherd")

Saint John Chrysostom, THE DOOR is God's WORD. This includes both the Scriptures and our Lord Himself see vv. 7, 9. THEIF AND A ROBBER - false teachers and anyone who leads the sheep astray from God's truth- see v. 10. See v. 9, CHRST is eternal life. The ultimate theif is Satan!

See vv. 11-15- Jesus is gives His life for sheep, and reveals Himself as the GOOD SHEPHERD, because He enters by thr door, fulfilling the SCRIPTURES concerning Himself. He is knows and is known by the Father, He knows His people personally, He is known by them, see vv. 3, 14, HE GIVES HIS LIFE for the sake of His people- a direct prophecy of His coming Passion on the cross.

The OTHER SHEEP see v. 16 is referring to the Gentiles, who will be brought into ONE FLOCK along with the Jews under ONE SHEPHERD. St. Ignatius taught, "BE CAREFUL TO OBSERVE A SINGLE EUCHARIST, FOR THERE IS ONE FLESH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND ONE CUP OF HIS BLOOD THAT MAKES US ONE, AND ONE ALTAR, JUST AS THERE IS ONE BISHOP... THIS IS IN LINE WITH GOD'S WILL."

See vv. 17-18: I LAY DOWN MY LIFE- our Lord is voluntary meaning at His own will to give His life on the Cross for all mankind's salvation.

I spoke about false teachers I have encountered online. Some teach that everyone goes to heaven. Some also teach once saved always saved. Some teach that deadworks is okay, and I even come across some that teach that both discipleship and Apostleship take away from salvation.

Please see my video - I spoke about the two unequal kingdoms that are at war with eachother both are spiritual in nature. I also spoke on how one can get from the one kingdom to the other. The Scriptures mentioned, GRACE, FAITH AND WORKS, and how we are reserved for good works found right there in scripture see v. 10 in Ephesians 2.

This was a great read and study especially for me. I want to build on my leadership style in all I do, I encourage all leaders regardless of your calling to read this. Jesus gives the ultimate example of what a true leader, a good shepherd should be One Who gives His life for the sheep.

Jesus shows us a true leader leads with mercy and compassion, perseveres truth, and unlike a cowardly hireling, a Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
