Pulitzer Prize winning Investigative Journalist accuses U.S. of bombing Nord Stream pipelines

Occurring in September 2022, the attack on the pipeline connecting Russia to Germany and forcing cheap gas to Europe has been treated as a deliberate act.

Still, no culprit has been identified so far.

On Wednesday (Feb. 8), investigative journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh claimed that the United States government was responsible for the September 2022 explosion of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea.

According to the journalist, the plan was executed by the CIA.

“Last June, Navy divers, operating under cover of a widely publicized NATO mid-summer exercise known as BALTOPS 22, planted the remotely triggered explosives that three months later destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, according to a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning,” says an excerpt from the report published by Hersh.

After the explosion, the press treated the attack as deliberate, but no culprit has been identified.

The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines cross the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, supplying cheap gas to Europe.
