BEFORE Tupac Shakur was one of the best selling musical artists of all time and widely considered the best rapper of all time.
BEFORE there was ever an East Coast, West Coast Feud.
BEFORE his album Me Against the World hit number one on the Billboard 200, making Tupac the first artist to accomplish this feat while serving a prison sentence.
BEFORE he starred in films Juice, Poetic Justice and Above The Rim.
BEFORE he was shot five times in the lobby of a recording studio during a mugging, and this was the shooting that he survived.
BEFORE he dated Madonna.

Although everyone relates him to West Coast rap TuPac was actually born in East Harlem and all of him immediate family members were dedicated to activism as members of the Black Panther movement, Tupac found his own passion in art and performance. When he was 13 he was an actor in the play ‘Raisin in the Sun’ at the Apollo Theater. He also played the role of The Mouse King in the Nutcracker and attended Baltimore School for the Arts, where he took ballet classes.
He first started rapping in Baltimore, going under the name MC New York and later Makaveli as well as working as a backup dancer for digital underground.
After he became a world wide success know as Tupac Shakur or simply 2pac selling over 75 million albums worldwide he almost got back into acting, having auditioned for the role of Bubba in Forest Gump and Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels prior to hit untimely departure on September 13th 1996 at the age of only 25.

Tupac Shakur was born Lesane Parish Crooks on June 16, 1971 in East Harlem, Manhatten in New York City, New York. The son of Black Panther activists, Shakur was raised by his mother Afeni Shaku

He had no contact with his biological father, Billy Garland, until he was an adult, Billy as well as other immediate family memebers were also members of the Black Liberation Army. TuPac had a half-sister, Sekyiwa, two years younger, and an older stepbrother, Komani Shakur

His birth name was abandoned by his mother early on, and she took to calling her boy Tupac Shakur after the South American revolutionary Túpac Amaru who led the indigenous revolt against Spanish rule.

Tupac had a difficult childhood, moving frequently around in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and the Bronx. He received an education in radical politics from his mother, but also saw some of life's hardships through her struggles crack addiction. In his youth, he explored acting by became a member of the 127th Street Ensemble, a Harlem-based theater company.
