Before Tom Hardy would star in the iconic film franchises including Star Trek, Batman and Mad Max.
Before Tom Hardy’s would become one of the most sought after Actor’s in Hollywood and would have a legion of both male and female fans.
Before Tom Hardy would bring his dog obsession to the red carpets of Hollywood.
Before Tom left Leonardo DiCaprio for dead in The Revenant and got an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of John Fitzgerlad.

Tom Hardy was close to dead himself after struggling for years with a substance-abuse problem in his teens to mid twenties; blacking out on a daily basis. Sometimes he’d wake up on the other side of London, other times he’d be in another country, but the guy still managed to make it onto set every day for his work as an actor.

Hardy just seemed to find trouble from the get go; getting expelled from elementary school for stealing then arrested at 15 for joyriding while in possession of a gun.
His good looks would land him a modelling contract at 19 and soon he was studying at the prestigious Drama Centre London. It was here where he would show intense dedication to his craft putting in 60 hours each week to improve his abilities, only to have his talents overshadowed by fellow classmate Michael Fassbender.

After securing his first feature role in Black Hawk Down, and HBO series Band of Brothers (where he would work alongside Fassbender) he would start trying out new characters and performing in front of his harshest critics; his dogs.

My name is Michael McCrudden documenting the life of Tom Hardy prior to fame, here for you on Before They Were Famous.
