Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu delivers an address and takes part in a question-and-answer session at the Assembly of First Nations' Special Chiefs Assembly in Ottawa. First Nations leaders are meeting from April 5 to 6 to discuss the federal government's draft action plan to align Canadian laws with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In September 2021, the UN adopted the declaration that recognizes the rights of Indigenous peoples and provides a global framework to advance their rights in areas including self-determination and self-government.
