In this video, we take you on a walk at Haystack Mountain State Park in Norfolk, Connecticut. This park is known for its 34-foot high stone tower at the summit of the mountain, which offers stunning views of the Berkshires, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont. Join us as we explore this scenic and historic park and share some fun facts about it.

Haystack Mountain State Park is a public recreation area that covers 292 acres of land. It was established in 1919 by a donation from Robbins Battell, a local philanthropist who also funded the construction of the tower in 1929. The park is open year-round and is named after the mountain's resemblance to a stack of hay.

To reach the tower, the trail is about half a mile long and moderately steep. It takes about 30 minutes to walk up if you are not a seasoned hiker. The tower is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. There is no admission fee to enter the park or the tower.

If you are looking for a challenging hike, you can try the Haystack Mountain Trail. This trail is 1.8 miles long and it gains 750 feet in elevation. The trail is well-maintained, but it is steep in places. The views from the top of the mountain are well worth the effort.

If you are looking for a more leisurely walk, you can try the Barbour Woods Trail. This trail is 2.9 miles long and it is relatively flat. The trail winds through a beautiful forest, and it is a great place to see wildlife.
