In this latest episode #37 of The Farm Hand's Companion Show, Pa Mac not only gives an update to the progress of some apple trees he planted a few years ago, but describes his own perspective of how to handle disappointments that inevitably come when farming.

Seen in this episode are several family photos featuring Pa Mac's grandfather, John Wesley Daniel, who was a sharecropper in first half of the Twentieth Century. You can read more about John Wesley Daniel and the challenges he and his family faced in the book A Sharecropper's Daughter, by Lenora McWilliams (Pa Mac's mother). In the same way that Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote of simpler times gone by, Lenora has managed to capture what life was like for a typical sharecropper family in the rural areas of the south toward the end of The Great Depression. This is truly an entertaining read for people of all ages, but ought to be required reading for all school age youngsters. Be sure and subscribe to the Farm Hand's Companion channel to keep up with the progress as Pa Mac takes an undeveloped piece of property and turns it into a small subsistence farm. Watch for new episodes as often as Pa Mac can crank 'em out and still run a small farm. (As long as he's alive and kicking, he's most assuredly farming and filming!)
