Octopath Traveler 2 (PC) - Part 31: The Cleric & Thief (Temenos & Throne Crossed Paths Part 1)

One common criticism about the first Octopath Traveler was the lack of interaction between the eight characters aside from short snippets of travel banter. The sequel fixes this issue with four sets of "Crossed Paths" storylines where four pairs of characters go on their own joint ventures. The four pairs are: Osvald & Partitio, Castti & Ochette, Temenos & Throne, and Agnea & Hikari.

Since I chose one of the pairs as my first two characters, let's do that pair's crossed path first. One day at the city of Flamechurch, Throne tells Temenos a rumor from her (now deceased) Blacksnake buddies about a treasure known as "Alpates" hidden inside the town cathedral. Temenos helps her investigate in search of the truth. There, the two come across a secret passage in the cathedral leading to the second floor where they find out that Alpates is actually a person safely hidden by the Pontiff that not even his chief inquisitor Temenos knew about. Alpates senses a bright flame inside of them and gives them a piece of a cloudy mirror before setting off on her mission, whatever it might be.
