3D printing can be an amazing way to make things but the plastics are brittle in the best scenarios. Using resin is a great hack to give the material strength, longevity, gloss and shine. UV resin is quick drying with UV light but toxic before drying (ironically food safe after hard) so take all precautions when applying (safety mask, gloves, ventilation hood, air purifier, etc.). And yes of course you can resin a 3D object! Just use a brush and several resin coats, fully drying between applications. Art Resin could probably work too but the cleanup would be horrible because the stuff takes hours to dry instead of minutes like UV resin but it is safer.
