Traditional Salt Making

In this video, we will see how salt is traditionally made using methods that have been used for hundreds of years. This process is simple but produces high-quality salt that is valued by many people around the world.

We will start by visiting a fishing village on the coast that uses seawater as a basic ingredient for making their salt. From there, we will see how seawater is pumped into areas called salt ponds or salt reservoirs. This seawater is then allowed to evaporate for several days until salt crystals form which accumulate at the bottom of the pool.

Once the salt is collected, traditional salt farmers collect it and carefully clean it, before drying it in the sun for several days. This drying process is important so that the moisture in the salt can be removed, resulting in dry and durable salt.
