AI ... A WOLF AT THE DOOR
The threat to mankind posed by AI cannot be underestimated.
Hi-Tech Kills

Acknowledged genius Elon Musk has joined with a group of tech experts in urging a six-month pause in the training of advanced artificial intelligence. This is following the amazing rise of ChatGPT – arguing that such systems could pose what they all agree upon as “profound risks to society and humanity.”

It's long been a plotline for bad science fiction, the conquest of man by machine. We all remember the warnings of the movie franchise 'Terminator' and how machines had become self-aware and then proceeded to wipe out mankind. We all remember how this was 'just movie stuff' until now. Now we are on the very threshold of losing ourselves to 'the machine'.

Elon Musk, arguably the most brilliant man alive, has joined more than 1,000 of the world's top tech experts in signing an open letter organized by the non-profit Future of Life Institute. The letter calls for an industry wide pause until proper safety protocols have been developed and vetted by independent experts. This same latter details potential risks that advanced AI poses without proper oversight.

Many outlined risks and concerns include the spread of “propaganda and untruth,” job losses, the development of “nonhuman minds that might eventually outnumber, outsmart, obsolete, and replace us and the risk of “loss of control of our civilization.”

The letter states unequivocally, “Therefore, we call on all AI labs to immediately pause for at least 6 months the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4. This pause should be public and verifiable, and include all key actors.”

We stand on the threshold of destruction, even from within. Only a pause, regulation, and universal control of Artificial Intelligence can stave off an apparently inevitable apocalyptic future.

I'm Max, and that's the way I see it!
