President Biden laughed at the idea that the Nashville shooter targeted Christians. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre doubled down on blaming Republicans for the mass shooting. Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas exchanged heated barbs during Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary hearing over border issues, with each official referring to the other as “revolting.”
