Pope Francis in hospital with respiratory infection

According to a statement from the Vatican, Pope Francis will require hospitalization in Rome for a few days due to a respiratory infection.

Although the 86-year-old has experienced breathing problems in recent days, the statement confirmed that he has not contracted Covid.

It said he would need “a few days of appropriate hospital medical therapy,” the BBC reported.

“Pope Francis is touched by the many messages received and expresses his gratitude for the closeness and prayer,” the statement added.
