In this video we're going to discuss the L-Trigger/Analog Stick issue with the Retro Fighters Brawler 64 and why I believe it's a non-issue.

Retro Fighters announced in fall of 2017 that they were re-envisioning the N64 controller and took their concept to Kickstarter. Designed to evolve the N64's controller into something that makes better sense with improved button and stick layouts and ergonomics. The result is the Brawler 64, a true next-gen controller for the N64.

We recently reviewed the Brawler 64 here on the channel and absolutely fell in love with it. From the ergonomics to the performance it was everything we wanted and then some. Since then some users have complained that the Analog Stick hits the L-Trigger when the stick is moved into an upper-left position. While I acknowledge this does indeed happen this should not hamper your game play at all. Here's why.

With the button layout and the trident design you would hold the controller in one of three ways. In none of these configurations would you use L and the analog stick, the layout of the controller prevented this. You would use the analog stick, R trigger, Z-button and face buttons, L and R triggers, D-pad and face buttons or the analog stick, Z-button and L trigger only. These are the three button configurations and controller inputs the original controller would utilize due to hand positioning.

For those whom this is an issue Retro Fighters has already come out to address the issue with a press release. :

First we want to thank everyone for your support and for the great feedback. It seems for the most part everyone is enjoying their controllers!

We did want to address some of the comments for those that mentioned the issue of the "L" shoulder button & analog stick bumping each other when you push the stick into the upper left position while holding down the "L" button. Unfortunately, we did not catch this before production and this may be noticeable in some games where you are holding down the "L" shoulder button and pushing the upper left position on the analog stick.

Again this is our fault for not catching this and we have nobody to blame but ourselves for missing this, however we do want to let you know that we are working on fixing it and making it right for those that wish to have it fixed. We are seeing if it is a replacement piece we can send to those for a quick fix or any other modifications need to be done. Please be assured we are here for you guys and just want everyone 100% satisfied and happy!

Future iterations (Colors) will NOT have this issue, but we still wanted to take care of those with the initial gray versions. Once we get a confirmed fix solution we will let everyone know.

Thank you for your support!

I applaud Retro Fighters for being transparent with these issues. It gives me confidence in Retro Fighters' products & the way they stand behind them.
