In this video, we discuss a new Kickstarter project from the folks at CharJenPro which will allow you to connect your Nintendo Switch to your TV without needing a dock.

The folks over at CharJenPro are what you could call experts when it comes to the world of USB-C. They have created a number of different devices in attachments for laptops, MacBooks, cell phones, and even the Nintendo Switch. Using their expertise, they have launched a Kickstarter for a new device they are calling the Stingray, and I personally think it's pretty cool.

What the Stingray does is combine everything from the dock of the Nintendo Switch into one compact adapter. To connect your Switch to a television, all you need to do is connects the USB-C connector from the Stingray to your Switch, connect your HDMI cable, connect your power cable, and you're ready to play. Best of all, the Stingray is incredibly portable, it fits in the palm of your hand, and it has all of the ports that you would need to be able to use your Switch on the go.

Perhaps one of the coolest features about the Stingray is the integrated ethernet port. For those who have less-than-ideal Wi-Fi, getting a good connection to the Nintendo Online Servers can sometimes be a struggle. The official Nintendo dock does not feature any sort of ethernet support; you actually need to purchase a separate USB ethernet adapter. For only a few dollars more than that adapter, the Stingray unlocks a full dock experience for you at a better value.

I have personally backed this project myself, and if you use your Switch on the go, this is something you should consider. One of the really cool things is it will also allow you to connect to your Switch Lite and get features such as the ethernet port, however since the Switch Lite does not have video output it will not project your image to the TV.

As of mid-November 2019 the project is a more than 50% funded, with their goal to have it fully funded by the end of the month. I have spoken to Charlie from CharJenPro and we will be getting a sample for review here on the channel, so make sure you subscribe to keep up-to-date.
