In this video we hang out with our fans outside our local GameStop on PlayStation 5 Launch Day

Ever since the original Sony PlayStation, I have been invested in that platform. I remember renting a PS1 with Ridge Racer in 1995 from my local Blockbuster! With the announcement that the PlayStation 5 would be available in 2020, I was definitely excited to see what new hardware would bring. On September 16th, 2020, we learned that in less than 2 months the PlayStation 5 would be here, along with its disc-less counterpart, the PlayStation 5 All-Digital. Today we learned that the PlayStation 5 will be launching on November 12th, 2020.

The PlayStation 5 itself, the one with an optical drive, has been priced at $499 in the US. It's counterpart, the PlayStation 5 All-digital which does not feature an optical drive, will be $100 less at $399. This puts the PlayStation 5 on par with the Microsoft Xbox Series X for pricing, while the PlayStation 5 All-Digital is $100 more than the Xbox Series S. Now one key point to remember is that the PlayStation 5 All-Digital is the exact same system as the PlayStation 5 proper, where the Xbox Series S does not have the same specs as the Xbox Series X.

I was not a huge fan of the overall presentation that Sony utilized here. We have seen games demonstrated in the past. We've seen titles announced in the past. While we did not have was an in-depth look at a consumer level at the hardware. We did not have a look at what the system comes packed with. We did not have an up-close look at the accessories. To this date we still have not gotten any look at the PlayStation 5 VR. none of these questions were answered during this event, but we got to know that Fortnite was going to be on the PlayStation 5; Oh boy!

I have actually gone ahead and pre-ordered a PlayStation 5 with an optical disk drive myself. In addition, I have also pre-ordered Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a Media Remote, and a charging stand. None of the other launch titles really did much for me, which is why I did not plunk down a whole lot of money at this time.

One thing that I was not expecting and was a pleasant surprise to see was an updated version of PlayStation Plus for the PlayStation 5. It appears a dozen or so games from the PlayStation 4 will be available on the PS5 at launch, including games such as Batman - Arkham Asylum, Ratchet & Clank, and others. We also got a teaser at the very end that God of War is coming to Playstation 5, which should surprise absolutely no one.

I'm looking forward to the launch of the PlayStation 5, I'm just nervous about the cost and the type of games we will be getting. I really hope $70 games are not going to be the norm. I also hope that we're not just going to see port after port of previous generation games to the system. I'm excited to try out the new controller, and I'm excited to finally get UHD Blu-ray discs from the company that invented the format.
