Date – Wednesday, March 29th - 2023 – St. Gwynllyw Filwr

St. Gwynllyw Filwr, also known as Woolos the Warrior or Woolos the Bearded, was a Welsh king and religious figure who lived in the 5th century. He was the king of Gwynllŵg in South Wales and founded the city of Newport. According to tradition, he was a feared warlord and raider who knew King Arthur, but later found religion and became a hermit, founding St Woolos Cathedral in Newport. He is also the father of one of the most revered Welsh saints, Saint Cadoc the Wise. Gwynllyw and his wife Gladys were reportedly bandits in King Arthur's time but repented and became eremites.

The Virgo Pater
O JOSEPH, virgin father of JESUS, most pure
spouse of the Virgin Mary, pray for us daily to the
SON of GOD, that, armed with the weapons of his
grace, we may fight as we ought in life, and be
crowned by Him in death.
Ant. Behold the faithful and prudent servant
whom the LORD set over his house.
