My love for foraging and gardening is partially rooted in my appreciation for herbalism and healthy eating. At times herbalism and healthy eating were the only tools I had to support me through nearly a decade of frustrating and mysterious gut illnesses.

These days I’m grateful to be in a much better place.

Folks that suffer with flare ups know just how much this takes a toll on your day to day life and this week I was feeling a little down, so I made one of my reliable dishes that always makes makes my gut happy, but with a little wild spin.

Something about curries / stews with fragrant spices like cilantro and ginger just fixes me up! Here’s the recipe to my wild ‘ole reliable stew.

Wild & probably growing on your front lawn:
Red deadnettle
Chickweed
Mugwort
Wild Onion

Sautéd:
Peppers
Onions
Bamboo shoots
Pickled Radish
Grated fresh ginger

Spiced with:
Garlic
Turmeric
Cumin
Thyme
Caraway seeds
Chili flakes
Black pepper
Himalayan salt

Finished with:
Coconut cream
Thai basil
Cilantro
Water

Go outside. Pick some greens. Make that gut happy. Thank me later. 🌱
