Pirates! Gold (Genesis) Gameplay -No Commentary-

Sid Meier's Pirates series is one of the most criminally underrated series' of all time. It has been around since 1987, and has been ported to a myriad of consoles over the decades, yet rarely gets a lot of mention. I first played it on the NES, but also own it on the Genesis, Xbox, and Wii. It's old enough to be on an Apple II, and recent enough to have a Steam version.

There are goals you can complete to beat the game, but the game is open-ended in nature. You are a pirate, and you are free to explore, and do whatever you want in the game. You can choose alliances to the various countries who have stakes, attacking the ships and towns of the countries they are at war with, or you can attack every town, and every ship you see. When on the open sea, there are random encounters where other ships pop up from time to time, and you can investigate, hail for news, or battle with to take them over.

There is so much more to it, but if you have never played a Sid Meier's Pirates! game, I highly recommend them for any console you can find them on.

Note: I am using the Super Retro Trio to upscale this footage, and I changed the aspect ratio back to 4:3 in my video editor as the Trio outputs in 16:9 when you use it's HDMI Port.
