Chad Schatz and Erin McManis, a couple from Arizona, rescued a morbidly obese beagle named Wolfgang, weighing ninety pounds, from a kill shelter in May 2019. The lawyers embarked on a three-year journey to improve the dog's health by following a strict diet and exercise regimen. Wolfgang has lost over sixty pounds, reaching a much healthier weight of twenty-seven pounds. To commemorate National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, the couple shared a touching video of Wolfgang's weight loss journey.

Chad and Erin also addressed the misconception that obese dogs are "cute." They emphasized that extreme obesity in dogs is often a sign of neglect or abuse and explained the health risks associated with excess weight in dogs.
