In July 1940, France splintered into two. Two political entities, Vichy France and Free France, both claimed to be the legitimate government of France. The French people were heavily divided between the two, enough that each side considered the other to be traitors to their motherland.

In today’s video, we’ll discuss how this divide came to be, and what it meant for France and her people.
