In today's video we go to northern Iowa to the town of Clear Lake. We visit the Surf Ballroom and Museum, the last venue that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson aka. "The Big Bopper" played. The venue still looks like it did in the 1950's which is pretty cool and they still have shows here. Afterwards we took a little drive to the crash site to see the memorial which is literally in the middle of a corn field. Waylon Jennings and Tommy Allsup were supposed to be on the plane but Richardson wasn't feeling well and didn't want to ride the bus so Jennings gave him his seat on the plane. Allsup and Valens flipped a coin on who would get the last seat on the plane. The event later became known as "The Day The Music Died" after Don McLean referred to it as such in his song "American Pie".
