Its 1967, and free spirits Jared Evans and Jenny Wakefield are looking to hitch hike. A stern-looking woman with a tattoo of "Lady Luck" on her arm, stops to ask for directions and then drives off without offering a ride. Eventually, the broke couple find themselves hungry and at a general store, where the clerk watchs them steal food in a mirror. The clerk confronts Jared, who runs out the store followed by Jenny. The clerk loads his shotgun to pursue them. Fortunately, the Mustang from earlier is parked outside, and they make a quick getaway. They are caught by cops who discover a dead body in the trunk and are found guilty of second-degree murder, spending five years in prison before being released due to insufficient evidence.

One day they pull over to pick up a hitch hiker and the hitchhiker hijacks the car. They recognize her as the same woman from 5 years earlier from her tattoo. She is later caught, leading to the reopening of the old murder case, where she eventually confesses to committing the murder all those years ago.
