Live from Jerusalem on Monday, March 27, as protesters gather in front of the Israeli Knesset, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Defence Minister Yoav Gallant over his opposition to the government's judicial reform.

Monthlong mass protests were sparked by Netanyahu's plan to overhaul the judiciary, which alarmed business leaders and former security chiefs, as well as drew concern from the US and other close allies.

According to Netanyahu and his allies, the plan will restore a balance between the judicial and executive branches, while critics say the laws will concentrate power in the hands of the governing coalition.

Right-wing protesters rally in Jerusalem

Right-wing activists arrange a rally in Jerusalem, on Monday, while Prime Minister Netanyahu is set to announce the halt to his government’s judicial legislation plan.

Earlier on Monday right-wing groups announced a counter-protest near the High Court of Justice will be taken in response to the anti-judicial reform rally held in front of the Knesset.

Advertisements for the protest published online stated that there is an ‘emergency situation’, and there is a warning that ‘the government will not steal the elections from people’.
