Americas military might must be reduced!

If weapons exist that are so powerful they allow less than one percent of a people to protect the other 99% with ease is it not terrifying that they are only in the hands of governments that do not have our best interests at heart? Do we have the right to bear arms of those arms are incapable of defending us from tyranny? Governments wielding such terrifying power serves only to domesticate us with fear evidenced by the fact that we know it would be impossible to defend our rights from such. Are we really being protected if we are too scared to act in our best interests?
