mountain-building caused by orogeny and continental impacts

What occurs when the crustal plates of continents collide? The ocean plate will subduct beneath the continent and be obliterated when it collides with continental crust, creating a subduction-related mountain range and more continental crust. Where do countries fit in?

Due to the fact that continents are composed of granite and andesite, which are less dense than ocean crust or mantle rock, continents cannot sustainably subduct one beneath the other. One cannot bury the continents. Instead, they collide and build up substantial crustal masses that push Earth's tallest mountains upward.
