French anger shifts from pension law to focus on Macron

The likelihood of King Charles III’s state visit to France being postponed had grown significantly.

President Emmanuel Macron dining with the British monarch at Château de Versailles while Paris was in flames would not only have been inappropriate, but also appeared as a deliberate provocation to the working class protesters leading the country’s demonstrations and strikes.

In the past week, these protests have evolved into a more intense and, in some cities, violent expression of anger, particularly at night, the Seattle Times reports.
